Even Socrates would struggle to write better Comedy and Tragedy....

7.18.2013
I had been anticipating 5'oclock like there was no tomorrow this thursday. I had another photoshoot to do and it was for a former co-worker and friend. I woke up a lil early and made sure batteries were charging memory cards, reflectors, and tripods were all in their respective places waiting for me. Now they say God works in mysterious ways, and we'll get to that in a minute, and today was one of those days.

After fullfilling my daily life as a pen pusher, finally it was 5 o'clock. I was rushing home to be at my photoshoot on time. It was nearly 6, and I was about to take the exit towards my house, when my shifter or stick went loose. Yes, the fear set in.....I couldn't change gears much less leave the gear I was in. Thankfully, I might add I was stuck in 2nd. OH NO!!! What do I do??? (excuse the profanity I feel like it summerizes the moment better)..Shit...Shit..Shit. I thought I was going to have to abandon the car walk home and explain to Breeanna that I could not make the shoot.

As I coasted into my driveway, I knew there was little time to figure things out. I jumped out of the car and jacked it up for better inspection. Well the actual connecting piece for my gear shift and cable are inside the car. "Dammit" I thought to myself. I look inside the car at the console and begin to silently curse, because I knew it had to come out.

I grab a screwdriver and and start taking apart my console. After a few hiccups, I finally break it free from the center. "Ok what am I staring at?" I thought to myself as I begin to look for any signs of damage, or anything out of place. AHA! There it was the stick shift, actually broke free from the clutch cable.

Now I know this piece is broken, and somehow it will all have to be in working order to get the car on the road. I mend the 2 pieces with chicken wire like Mcguyver. Now to test my shenanigans. "SUCCESS!!!"

Now it was time to get on the road and pray to GOD that it holds.

7:00

I get out to Adriatica and waiting for me is my friend Bree and her family. Slightly surprised and excited we begin grouping everyone together and taking photos when it happens....

We were 30 min into our photoshoot when it began to rain on us. I remained a slight drizzle, but man did it stop our shoot.

I remember checking the forecast before I left and no where in Weather.com did it call for rain!!!

We tried to wait it out and take photos when and where we could here, then as we were walking to the tower in Adriatica, it began to rain harder. So the family decided to go to their place and finish up the session. We ended with some more outside shoots, and all ended well.

It was the ending you hear of in Fairy Tales. Everyone had a happily ever after and we all went home.

So here are a few key points to my story.

#1 Yes the man upstairs works in mysterious ways. This is why the worst case scenario happened at the best time and location. God forbid it happened on the 30 mile stretch of higway between work and home, or between home and Adriatica.

#2 When dealing with a worst case scenario, do not just toss in the towel. I found out last night that someone with no mechanic background, could fix their car in less than an hour.

Whatever you do, as in everything in life, you will run into problems. Make the best of it and overcome your problems to the best of your ability. Good things wait for you....
